Love is the Word
1979. A small Dutch village. The thirteen-year-old virtuous Bart Geraedts wants to do as many good deeds as possible. His credo is: what goes around, comes around. But then suddenly he falls madly in love with the worldly and very seductive sixteen-year-old Moniek Verhije. Secretly, he starts seeing the three-year-older girl. From that moment on, all kind of terrible things start to happen in his life and that of his parents. Bart suspects it has something to do with the fact he spends more time with Moniek than doing his deeds. The choice he will have to face is between the love for Moniek - and with that, defying fate - or he has to lock out his amorous feelings and get back on the right track. He chooses the latter, but fate doesn’t seem to care. Moniek becomes gravely ill. Bart’s image of the world is stumbling. He is willing to sacrifice everything to propitiate destiny and save the love of his life…
