Need for Speed: Rivals Ghost is being developed by Criterion Games in collaboration with and is the first installment of the series scheduled for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is based on Frostbite Engine 3 and fits the classic street racing and challenges with the police within a setting of open , in which you can choose to be part of the illegal drivers or the police. From the point of view of the runner , the purpose is to try to climb the ranks of the most famous pilots performing risky maneuvers and winning races. Escaping the police cars you earn Speedpoints that allow you to buy new cars and objects, but as a result it becomes more and more sought after by the police.

From the point of view of the police , it is working with others to try to block the runners , allowing you to earn points to climb the ranks of the police force . In Need for Speed : Rivals is inserted Alldrive system that promises a dynamic and fluid transition from single player to multiplayer within the setting . The latter focuses on the area of Redview Country, a region characterized by wide streets and various scenarios explored freely.
