MASCHINE by Native Instruments is a sound engine for creating beats and music, an updated version with unlimited groups and effects. Multicore support is included, meaning everything is processed in parallel and quickly.

Its main strength is that the software is designed for use with the Maschine hardware controller: pads, encoders—everything is at your fingertips. It works fine without a controller, too; it's simply more convenient and faster, especially for live performance. Pad Link and Pad Scene modes are available for live performances.

Projects can be exported to: Ableton Live and Logic Pro X. The controller can be connected to any MIDI equipment.
The built-in sampler is powerful, the sound library is large out of the box, and you can also purchase or download Native Instruments extensions through their platform.
The interface is clear and divided into sections; a beginner won't figure it out right away, but they'll be able to use it in an evening.

Native Instruments has released Maschine+, but the previous version is still stable. Akai MPC Software is a similar product , offering roughly the same concept—pads and software—but a slightly different sound. I've already mentioned Ableton Live, and that's it.
