Tessa Young is a dedicated student, dutiful daughter and loyal girlfriend to her high school sweetheart. Entering her first semester of college, Tessa's guarded world opens up when she meets Hardin Scott, a mysterious and brooding rebel who makes her question all she thought she knew about herself -- and what she wants out of life.

Tessa è la classica brava ragazza: studentessa diligente, figlia obbediente di una madre single che l'ha cresciuta fra grandi difficoltà economiche, fidanzatina devota di un ragazzo perbene che è suo amico fin dall'infanzia. Ma (per fortuna) la sua vita riceverà una bella scossa: Tessa infatti si trasferirà da sola presso un college di Atlanta dove cadrà dritta dritta nella rete di seduzione di Hardin, il bad boy locale dal temperamento ombroso e la collera facile. Ovviamente l'attrazione è immediata, e reciproca. Riuscirà Tessa a rendere Hardin meno scorbutico, o Hardin a rendere Tessa meno bacchetona?
