Yellow Earth
A communist soldier is sent to a remote region of China in order to collect folk songs. Staying with a peasant family (a widower with two small children), he discovers a community whose way of life is completely alien to him, but he gradually wins their trustβ¦
1080p AI Upscale of the 1984 film Yellow Earth (ι»εε°) directed by Chen Kaige in 10bit x265/HEVC with stereo AAC audio and external English .srt subtitles.
Notes: This came from a PAL DVD and thus the PAL speedup has been corrected, slowing the film back down to 24 fps. The DVD I sourced this from was not very good quality, any bluriness or hazing especially in dark scenes may appear to be AI artifacts but they were in the original file. Also note that the letterboxing changes about halfway through the film, so only the letterboxing from the second half was cropped, leaving some black bars in the first part. Subtitles were OCR'd from DVD VobSubs.
