Celebrities scramble to compete in the kitchen. What culinary triumphs will they whisk up?

E10 The semi-finals are here, and the best nine celebrity cooks in this year’s competition are waiting in the wings, ready to show they have more culinary tricks up their showbiz sleeves. First, the celebs head back to medieval England for their first task, before returning to the MasterChef kitchen for a truly tasty cook-off. To start, the intrepid stars head to rural Warwickshire, home to Coombe Abbey. Now a hotel, this former monastery is a 12th-century masterpiece that has housed its fair share of medieval banquets, and it just so happens that today they will be preparing one for 80 hungry guests – all medieval enthusiasts who will be expecting a feast of epic proportions.
Working in teams, the celebs will have three hours to prepare a sumptuous meal that includes a meat, fish and veg main, along with a dessert. Amongst the produce on offer are some medieval staples, including pork, venison, cod, dark ales, trout, root veg, pearl barley, as well as a selection of fruit that should lend itself to some comforting creations. Judges Grace Dent and John Torode will be sampling the dishes on offer, and John will also be stepping in to ensure the kitchen runs like clockwork. Let’s hope the merry men and women in attendance today leave with smiles on their faces. It’s then back to the MasterChef kitchen for a second task, which would no doubt have also delighted medieval folk. This time, the judges would like each contestant to make a pie – a pastry case filled with something truly delicious, served with garnish and a sauce. Will they go sweet or savoury, and how will their pie stand out from the crowd? The two celebrities who fail to pack a punch with their pie will lose their place in the competition, leaving the lucky seven remaining to forge on in the semi-finals.

E11 The semi-finals continue, and two stars have already been sent home, leaving the best seven still in with a shot at MasterChef glory. Judges Grace Dent and John Torode set two challenges inspired by passion and love – these will need to be plates of food that stir up memories and emotion. First up is a visit from Italian cooking royalty, Gennaro Contaldo, whose culinary career spans 50 years, 15 cookbooks and includes mentoring a young Jamie Oliver in the art of authentic Italian cuisine. Gennaro’s recipes are close to his heart and filled with emotion, and now he asks the celebrities to each recreate one of his favourite dishes and hopefully bring those lovely memories flooding back. The recipes sound simple and often include humble ingredients, but they require a deft touch and techniques that can take years to master. Gennaro likes to play with flavour combinations, so we can expect some twists and turns along the way. Success could prove vital, as the celebrity who manages to impress Gennaro and the judges more than anyone else will sail straight through to the next round, leaving the remaining six to fight it out to keep their place in the competition They will now be responsible for their own food – but this time it’s a dish inspired by a place that means something special to them. Somewhere that will tug on the heartstrings and leave the judges with a taste sensation that lives long in the memory – for the right reasons! The celebrities aren’t short of inspiration, with offerings that take us around the globe, including visits to New York, the south of France, the Caribbean, and somewhere a bit more local – Lancashire! One celebrity will head home with more memories to add to the collection as their journey comes to an end, leaving just six remaining in the last semi-final and the rest of us one step closer to discovering who will take the title of Celebrity MasterChef 2025.

E12 The semi-finals draw to a close with two cracking challenges that will determine which of the six remaining cooks will be lucky enough to storm into finals week. Leaving now is not on anyone’s agenda. The first hurdle is an invention test with a difference. Working in teams, the celebrities will need to prepare and cook a main course and a dessert, but this time it needs to be done in relay. One will kick things off, the next will try and pick up the pieces, and the last will, hopefully, be able to put everything together and plate up. But with no conferring allowed, how will the celebrities fare? Whoever goes first will come up with the initial menu idea on their own and will need to leave clues for their teammates to pick up the baton. What could possibly go wrong?
This task will give judges Grace Dent and John Torode food for thought, as the celebrities will need to demonstrate impeccable culinary instincts to succeed. Next, it’s back to working as individuals, as just one dish stands between them and a place in finals week. The brief is to cook serve up an outstanding plate of food that shows they are worthy of getting there. Along with the judges, three of Grace’s fellow restaurant critics will also be here to taste: William Sitwell, Jimi Famurewa and Leyla Kazim. Only five celebrity cooks will make it through, and impressing this bunch will be a tall order. It’s time to pull out all the stops. At the end of the toughest judging yet, one celebrity will depart, leaving the rest heading into finals week with a spring in their step. However, the challenges coming up are next level and will push each of them beyond anything they have done before.
