Celebrities scramble to compete in the kitchen. What culinary triumphs will they whisk up?

E07 It’s the final week of heats, which can only mean one thing: five more celebrities have a shot at this year’s title. Six have already made it to the semi-finals, but getting there will require some culinary magic. The group must prove they have the knack to go all the way as they brace themselves for three demanding challenges set by judges Grace Dent and John Torode. The last group to brave the MasterChef kitchen include national singing treasure Alfie Boe OBE, rugby legend Alun Wyn Jones OBE, reality TV star Ashley Cain, gladiator Jodie Ounsley and comedian Noreen Khan. First up, it’s time to pray to the cooking gods as the celebs play 'under the cloche'. It’s pot luck as they lift their lids to reveal their ingredient. Whatever they pick will need some love, care and attention, as it has to be the star of their first dish. Can they pimp up a prawn or celebrate some salmon? Will they have any idea what a romanesco is? The larder is stuffed full of goodies that can be used to complement their delectable dishes. The judges aren’t expecting miracles at this stage, but they will be looking for something edible. Having hopefully won over the judges, the celebs get another chance to prove their taste buds truly work as they face the palate test. Taking it in turns, they each try a cube of a tasty treat and aim to identify it. The judges don’t want this to be a walk in the park, so the celebs are all blindfolded for the duration of the task. If they fail to name it correctly, they will be eliminated from the round. The one left standing will be given a potential lifesaver in the next round: ten extra minutes, which can make all the difference. The final stop is the Celebrity MasterChef street food market, which so far has been doing a roaring trade in the heats. Can this group manage to outdo previous offerings? They each need to send the judges to gastronomy heaven with one knockout dish that would sell by the bucket load from their own food truck. The judges will be after something comforting, even a little naughty, as this should be a real treat. This is the first time the celebs are cooking their own food, so it will be a good indication of who has serious potential. There’s no elimination, but those lagging behind will need to up their game sharpish, as next time the pressure will soar to a level none of them can prepare for.

E08 The final heat of this year’s competition is in full swing, and the celebrities need to prove to judges Grace and John that they have what it takes to hit Celebrity MasterChef level. Two challenges await, with a place in the quarter-finals for the taking. For one, it will be the end of the road, and for the others, it will be the start of an incredible race to the finish. There’s a familiar face setting the brief: Alexina Anatole, a 2021 MasterChef finalist, who has since gone on to publish two cookbooks. Alexina’s passion has continued since her win, and she pairs ingredients that would ordinarily raise alarm bells with extraordinary success. With a passion for bitter flavours, Alexina is bringing this taste sensation to the brief. Each of the celebs has one of her recipes that celebrate bitterness, which they will need to incorporate into the dish and ensure every element works in harmony. This is a careful balancing act that would terrify top chefs, never mind five celebrities. One mistake could leave a nasty taste in everyone’s mouth. Having seen that test through to the bitter end, the celebs have one more shot at demonstrating they are quarter-final-ready. They have one hour to deliver a main course and dessert that they would be proud to serve at a dinner party – this is not the time to bring out a hedgehog made of pineapple and cheese chunks. It will need to be restaurant-worthy to stand any chance of impressing the judges. The judges have already been treated to some stunning creations in this series, so expectations are through the roof. One celebrity will be back on the red carpet before they know it as they say goodbye to the competition. The rest will all have a place in the last quarter-final and still be in the running to be Celebrity MasterChef champion 2025.

E09 Just one round remains before the enormity of the semi-finals takes hold. The stage is set for the last quarter-final to determine which three celebrities push on in the competition. Two tough tasks are on the cards, meaning the stars need to use every trick in their recipe book to stand any chance of success. In the appropriately named pairs challenge, these celebrities work in twos for the first time. The judges arm each team with a recipe, and each couple must deliver two identical portions of that dish – but only one member of each team will have access to their recipe. The recipes are not easy, and include the Indian fried chickpea delight Aloo Tikki and some delicious Middle Eastern falafel. Communication is key to convey the recipe, the technique, and above all, the flavour. Life as a pair is short-lived, as it's then back to flying solo. The contestants deliver their best two-course menu for the judges, and extra portions for three special celebrity guests: 2024 finalist Craig Doyle, 2023 finalist Amy Walsh and 2021 champion Kadeena Cox. Delighting these diners, as well as the judges, is no mean feat. To be worthy of a place in the semi-finals, the food will need to look and taste the part. Grace and John name the lucky cooks who have made it through. The successful stars will need to brush up on their skills fast, as next up, all remaining celebs come together for the first time and the heat gets turned up to high!
