2048: il pianeta sta per essere sommerso dagli oceani. Il "Nuovo Vaticano" lotta contro la progressiva crescita delle acque e ingaggia la famiglia Kubiak, esperta nel riportare a galla tesori sommersi, per recuperare lo scettro con cui Mosè, in fuga dall'Egitto, divise il mare. I Kubiak, però, sono contrastati nella loro ricerca da un oligarca russo che mira al prodigioso manufatto per asservire il mondo.
