Description; In 1971, "Blue Movie" from director Wim Verstappen was a groundbreaking film. It was the first theatrical release in the Netherlands to show sex scenes and an actual erection on screen. But, the movie is not a celebration of the free love era of the time. Rather, it is an examination of isolation in its various forms and isolation's effect on human beings desire for connection. A prescient theme that is eerily relevant today as it was fifty years ago. It was initially denied release but the film board relented and it was a huge box office success and became one of the most watched films in the history of Dutch cinema. The Cult Epics version is remastered in HD and offered with English subtitles.
