'The Broken Circle Breakdown' vertelt de intense love story tussen Elise (28) en Didier (36). Zij heeft haar eigen tattooshop, hij is een Vlaamse cowboy die banjo speelt in een bandje. Het is liefde op het eerste gezicht... al zijn de verschillen groot. Water en vuur, totaal verschillend maar toch perfect verenigbaar. De geboorte van dochtertje Maybelle maakt hun geluk compleet. Tot het noodlot keihard toeslaat en Maybelle sterft. Didier verliest zich in woede, Elise zoekt troost.
English:
Elise and Didier fall in love at first sight, in spite of their differences. He talks, she listens. He's a romantic atheist, she's a religious realist. When their daughter becomes seriously ill, their love is put on trial.
