The Practice is an America Crime, Drama, Mystery series working on the fruits of laws in the culture and the ways to go about running a practice in itself. The law firm is shown of Mr. Robert Donnell & Associates. The episodes typically features the firm's involvement in various high-profile criminal and civil cases that often mirror current events. Conflict between legal ethics and personal morality was a recurring theme. Some episodes bear witness to light comedy, while Kelley did claim that he conceived the show as something of a rebuttal to L.A. Law (for which he wrote) and its romanticized treatment of the American legal system and legal proceedings.
