Returned home after a year of army, Vio discover with surprise his friends and the neighborhood changed fundamentally. The area is now controlled by Davinci, a drug dealer because of which his father Vio lost the house, and for his friends, beatings with rival gang have become a way of life. Nevertheless, Vio is happy: he met the love of his life, Ramona, and between them grows a love story and they will do anything for that love, including him fighting on Davinci, who wants to take Ramona as his wife by force. Unfortunately, love proves to be not a sufficient condition for Vio and Ramona to fulfilling the dream,of love but makes you understand that not even in death those two can not be separated.

"Poveste de cartier" se vrea o variantă autohtonă a celebrului West Side Story adaptată la realitățile românești dintr-un cartier bucureștean.
O poveste de dragoste spusă și trăită pe ritmuri de manele, cu o distribuție din care fac parte nume consacrate precum Florin Călinescu, Romică Țociu și Cornel Palade, dar și tineri care fac primii pași pe tărâmul filmului.
Din ultima categorie face parte și Monica Merișan, care la doar 16 ani deține rolul principal în acest film și care, se pare, a uimit întreaga echipă cu talentul său.
Partenerul ei din film este Sorinel Copilul de Aur, cunoscut al acestui gen muzical, un tânăr cu un număr impresionant de fani pentru cei 15 ani ai săi.
Filmarile în diverse locuri din București au fost cu peripeții, fiind nevoie de forțe de ordine pentru a ține în frâu mulțimea doritoare de autografe.
