The following dialogue takes place at the local Barbershop that Tolga (a Muslim-background Follower of Jesus) frequents often. His barber’s name is Serhat. When Serhat was younger, he was sent to an İmam Hatip Okul (similar to a Madrasa) so he has a very good background in Turkish Islam, enough to at least know his religion; however, he will only know enough of what Christianity is from what he learned at the imam school and how Christianity is viewed from a Turkish perspective.

HAS THE BIBLE BEEN CHANGED AND CORRUPTED?
Serhat: “Surely you know that those books were corrupted and changed. I went to İmam Hatip School, (similar to a Bible school for Muslims). My father wanted me to study to become an imam (Muslim religious leader). So I studied the Qur’an and went to the school for 4 years. We learned how the Christians corrupted, added and took out portions of the Injil. The only true book of God now is the Qur’an. The others are false. Of course we believe that the Old and New Testaments were from God, but the Old and New Testaments of Muhammad’s day. They were corrupted by men, and the only true Holy Book we have available today is the Qur’an.”

DO CHRISTIANS BOW BEFORE IDOLS AND PRAY IN FRONT OF PICTURES?
Serhat: “ You bow and pray before idols and paintings. You light candles and have a priest that forgives you of your sins. On top of that, you still have not answered my question about you worshipping three gods! Like I mentioned before, in the Qur’an it states that you are polytheists because your gods are Mary, Jesus the Son, and the Father” (Maide 5:116).

NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION?
Serhat: “Our prophet Muhammad never spread the religion through violence! In fact, the Qur’an states, ‘Your religion to you and my religion to me,’ and also it says that, ‘There is no compulsion in religion’ (Bakara 2:256 sura)”.
