Trama:
Una grintosa avventura, ricca di brivido e azione, ambientata in un futuro non molto lontano dove il pugilato è divenuto uno sport altamente tecnologico. Hugh Jackman interpreta il ruolo di Charlie Kenton, un lottatore fallito che ha perso la sua occasione quando un robot d'acciaio alto due metri e mezzo e dal peso di oltre novecento chili, lo mette ko sul ring. Charlie non è altro che un piccolo agente, che guadagna quel poco che basta per mettere insieme pezzi di metalli di scarti per passare da un incontro di boxe all'altro. Quando Charlie tocca il fondo, a malincuore fa squadra con il figlio Max (Dakota Goyo) per costruire ed allenare un concorrente per il titolo. Dato che la posta in gioco nella pericolosa arena è aumentata, Charlie e Max, contro ogni previsione, giungono ad una nuova occasione per un ritorno.
