Set in 1954, The 317th Platoon is about a French unit during the final days of the Indochina War. Ordered to destroy its
installations on the Laotian border, the unit must make its way through a hundred miles of jungle to aid the French
outpost at Tao Tsai, which is surrounded by Vietminh troops. Notable for its realism and effective portrayal of
jungle warfare, the film was shot in the Cambodian jungle at a time of growing tensions in Indochina.
