Tweede Wereldoorlog. Drie US Navy piloten storten met hun torpedo-bommenwerper neer in de Stille Zuidzee. Ze beschikken enkel over een kleine reddingsboot zonder eten, water of andere voorzieningen. Het trio is op zichzelf aangewezen om uithongering, stormen en aanvallen van haaien te overleven, en op de een of andere manier hun reddingsboot naar veiliger oorden te sturen.
